Do you have a musical talent, a knack for stand-up comedy, or a party trick that could put the “fun” back in “superfund”?

Butte’s Mother Lode Theatre is searching for 20 stars to present on stage in the first annual “Butte’s Got Talent” Showcase on April 20th, 2017. Talented acts from Butte, and the surrounding area, can register for an audition before 4PM on Friday, March 3rd for the chance to win cash prizes: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. The audition registration includes an audition fee of $35 for single person acts and $65 for group acts and will give performers the chance to audition, live, the following week, on the 11th and 12th of March.
Originally built in 1923 as a Masonic Temple, Butte’s Mother Lode Theatre updated its look after the non-profit corporation raised $3 million for renovations in 1996. It has since been used by the Community Concert Association, the Butte Symphony, Western States Opera Company, and innumerable others as a location to perform, celebrate, and host civic events. Now, Mother Lode is looking to raise funds for the theatre’s LED Stage Lighting Conversion Project. The project, with an approximate cost of $60,000, is estimated to pay for itself in reduced utility costs within three years of instillation. In addition to the costs reimbursed by lower utility fees, The Mother Lode hopes to use “Butte’s Got Talent” Showcase as a fundraiser to supplement some of the expenditures.
The specifications for perspective performances, as outlined by Butte’s Got Talent Showcase, state that all performers must be sixteen years or older at time of registration, all acts must not exceed a maximum of 4 minutes 30 seconds, and all participants who are not selected by the panel of judges as finalists to perform on April 20th will be awarded a free ticket to the event as gratuity for participating in the audition process.
More information on Butte’s Talent Contest and how to participate can be found at www.buttesgottalent.com. If you’re looking to support your favorite star, tickets for the event can be purchased from the Mother Lode Theatre or at www.buttearts.org.
