Martha Dembek had 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists as the Montana Tech women’s basketball team fell to conference rival Carroll College 50-65 on February 2. Fellow senior Hattie Thatcher had eight points and three assists in the loss. On the men’s side, Chris O’Neill had 15 points, shooting 67 percent from the field, in a 42-65 loss to the Saints. The Diggers shot just 31 percent from the field in the loss.

The Lady Orediggers are ranked fifth in the Frontier conference and have 11 wins and 12 losses on the season. The men’s team is ranked seventh in the Frontier conference and has 7 wins and 16 losses on the season.
The Diggers returned to action on February 4, hosting conference foe Lewis and Clark State at home on Kelvin Sampson Court. In the women’s 57-76 loss to No. 2 ranked LC State, standout point guard Hattie Thatcher became the all-time assists leader for Montana Tech with eight assists on the night. Thatcher has tallied 472 career assists with the Diggers. Dembek, who joined the 1000-point club at Tech last month, paced Tech with 16 points and 11 boards. Senior Rachel Farris had 12 points on the night.
In the men’s contest, Lukas Vining had 23 points in a 75-88 loss to the Warriors. Dylan Pannabecker and John Chapman scored 14 and 11 points, respectively.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams host the University of Great Falls Argos at home on February 9. Home games against Montana State University Northern take place on February 11. The Diggers are on the road against Rocky Mountain College in Billings on February 1
